Grandparent’s Day
On March 13, 2020, Little Sun People was set to welcome all of our LSP Grandparents for a wonderful special day of engagement and fun with the children and staff of our school. It was the very day that we all had to close down due to the Covid Pandemic. The good news is that we all survived the past three years of struggle and 2024 offered us an opportunity to welcome our grandparents in again.
On February 16th, 2024, we hosted LSP Grandparents for a breakfast and a children's violin and dance performance created especially for them. We broke bread and enjoyed the beautiful grandchildren as they showcased their talents. The event was a celebration of connection as grandparents beamed with pride and displayed heartfelt expressions of love and achievement.
We are excited about the bright future we are building together at Little Sun People. After years of uncertainty, this gathering and performance served as a powerful symbol of hope, resilience, and the enduring power of community.
Join Us in Expanding Our Horizon: Support Little Sun People's New Afterschool Program
Since 1981, Little Sun People has stood as a beacon of hope and education in our community, offering a nurturing early childhood center that has enriched the lives of children aged 2 to 5 years.
In 1995, we broadened our horizon by introducing a School-Age Afterschool Program and a summer camp for children aged 5-9 years, further embedding our roots into the fabric of our community. However, the unforeseen challenges brought by the pandemic in March 2020 led us to suspend this vital service. Today, we stand on the precipice of a new chapter and are thrilled to announce our plans to not only reopen our School-Age Afterschool Program but also launch our first elementary school classroom. This expansion will occupy the newly acquired 5,000 square feet of space on the fourth floor of our site at 352 Classon Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11238.
Our vision for this space is not just to reopen doors but to transform them into gateways of opportunity, learning, and growth for our children. We envision a place that mirrors the greatness we see in each child—a place that radiates warmth, innovation, and the joy of learning. To achieve this, we are embarking on an upgrade and refurbishment project to ensure our facilities reflect the excellence and aspirations of our program and its participants.

You’re invited to have some fun with the Little Sun People Board and the Parent Advisory Council at our Sip & Mingle fundraising event. Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 9th, from 2-4 pm, and join us at Therapy Wine Bar, a venue known for its cozy atmosphere and exquisite selection of beverages.
This gathering is not just an opportunity to socialize and connect with the community but also a chance to contribute to an amazing cause. Join us for black history trivia, and participate in a variety of games designed to entertain and educate. Whether you're a history buff, a trivia enthusiast, or simply in search of a fun afternoon, there's something for everyone at this event.
Curated drink specials for the day will include mocktails and cocktails so we can toast to the future of Little Sun People. Each purchase will be a direct investment in the bright future of LSP. The proceeds will go towards supporting the expansion of Little Sun People and enhancing our enrichment programs, which are dedicated to fostering the intellectual and creative growth of our students.
