The Timbuktwo’s (2 year-olds) class is named after a small town in the West African nation of Mali called Timbuktu (French: Tombouctou).  Timbuktu flourished from its trade in salt, gold, and ivory and became part of the Mali Empire early in the 13th century.  In its Golden Age, the town's numerous Islamic scholars and extensive trading network made possible an important book trade, together with the campuses of the Islamic University, this established Timbuktu as a scholarly center in Africa.

Yaa Asantewaa (2 ½ -3 year-olds) – Yaa Asantewaa in the 1900's led the Ashanti rebellion known as the War of the Golden Stool against British colonialism.  Yaa Asantewaa's dream for an Asante, free of British rule, was realized on March 6, 1957, when the Asante protectorate gained independence as part of Ghana, the first African nation to achieve this act.

Ife Three’s (3-3 ½ year-olds) – the Ife's are named after an ancient Yoruba city in south-western Nigeria.  Early inhabitants date back as far as 600 B.C. and according to customary traditions; it is the oldest organized community on the planet!  The Yoruba translation of Ife is "expansion" and Ife is commonly regarded as the cradle of not just Yoruba culture, but of all humanity, especially by the followers of the Yoruba faith.

(Zulu) Fouriors (4 year-olds) – Our Fouriors are named after the Zulu which are the largest South African ethnic group mainly in the (modern-day) province of KwaZulu-Natal.  The Zulu Kingdom played a major role in South African history during the 19th and 20th centuries, Zulu warriors fought against British opposition under the leadership of King Shaka (deemed the most influential figure in South African history).  Shaka’s reign was marked by uniting various tribes which expanded his military and empire.
